Goalkeeper 41
Armin Pecsi is one of the youngest players in Liverpool’s goalkeeping unit. The Hungarian man joined the Reds in the summer of 2025 after completing a move from Puskás Akadémia, a club in the Hungarian League.
Biography
Pecsi was born on 24 February 2005 in Hainburg an der Donau, Austria, to parents who were Hungarian citizens. He started training as a goalkeeper in Győri ETO FC’s youth academy, where he played from 2010 to 2017 before joining Puskás Akadémia.
He became one of the most outstanding goalkeepers at the Puskás Akadémia academy, displaying incredible reflexes and composure when facing the ball. His performance soon earned him an international call-up to Hungary youth side.
At just 16 years old, Pecsi was already training with the Puskás Akadémia senior squad, and even featured in a club friendly game against Club Brugge.
Career
Armin Pecsi made his official debut for Puskás Akadémia on February 4, 2024, against Paksi FC in Hungary’s Nemzeti Bajnokság I, which ended in a 2:1 loss. He was just 18 at this time; before the end of the 2023/2024 season, which was his first season as a senior player, he made 16 appearances for the side.
The 2024/2025 season was a boost in his career as he became the first-choice goalkeeper for Puskás Akadémia, making 36 appearances for the side and setting a personal career record of 11 clean sheets in a single season.
He helped Puskás Akadémia finish second in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I table, and he was among the three goalkeepers nominated for the Golden Boy award in the 2024/2025 season.
On June 7, 2025, Liverpool FC announced the signing of Armin Pecsi from Puskás Akadémia for a transfer fee of £1.5 million, on a 5 year contract that will see him play at the club until June 2030.
The signing of Pecsi impressed the Liverpool supporters; the move was seen as part of the club’s long-term plan for the goalkeeping unit of the club. Clearly, the talented young goalkeeper will gain more experience from playing beside the likes of Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The young Hungarian appeared in the 2025/2026 pre-season games for the Reds, where he impressed the coaching staff with his mentality and goalkeeping technique. Currently, he features more with Liverpool’s U21 side, while training regularly with the senior squad.
At the end of the 2025/2026 season, Pecsi was sent on a season-long loan to TSV Hartberg, a club in the Austrian League, where he will spend the entire 2026/2027 season to get more playtime and gain more first-team experience.
