Liverpool FC secured the signature of the record breaking teenager Harvey Elliott in the summer of 2019, a move from his boyhood club to becoming one of the most influential player at the Merseyside.
Elliott was born on April 4, 2003, in Chertsey, Surrey, England. He picked interest in football at a very young, as he was also a committed Liverpool supporter. Before joining the academy at Queen Park Rangers, he was rejected by Chelsea academy with the reason of having a small body statue.
He later joined the Fulham academy where he made rapid progress at the youth rank, at just 15 year old he made his debut for the club in a Carabao cup game against Millwall, where he came in as a substitute in the 81st minute of the match.
Elliott gained the status of one of the most iconic teenage player, at just 15 years and 174 days old he became the club’s youngest first team player, and the youngest to ever play in a competitive tournament.
Short after he made his Premier League debut, coming in as a substitute in the 88th minute in a 1:0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers. This appearance made him the youngest player to feature in an English Premier League game breaking a record set in 2007 by Matthew Briggs.
For an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2019, Elliott completed a move to Liverpool FC, a transfer that resulted into a major milestone in his career, giving him the opportunity to learn under the management of Jürgen Klopp.
His debut for Liverpool came in a Carabao cup game against Milton Keynes Dons on 28 July 2019, making him the youngest player to start a match for the club at 16 years and 174 days. He also became the youngest player to start a match at Anfield after the game against Arsenal.
He made his Premier League debut on 2 January, 2020 replacing Mohammed Salah in the final minute of the game against Sheffield United. Elliot’s first professional contract for Liverpool came on the 6 July 2020, as the club saw him as a long term investment.
There was a lot of complication surrounding the Harvey Elliott move to Liverpool, on 10 February, 2021 the independent Professional Football Compensation Committee ordered Liverpool to compensate Fulham. A confirmed the fee as £1.5 million, plus £2.8 million in add on was paid for the 16 year old.
Elliott took on several loan spell after joining Liverpool to gain first team experience and more playing time. He joined the Championship club Blackburn Rovers in October 2020, where finished the season with seven (7) goals and Eleven (11) assist in the 2020/2021 campaign.
He was nominated EFL young player of the season, and he won the award for the Blackburn goal of the season for his stunner strike against Millwall in December 2020.
At the start of the 2021/2022 season he returned to Liverpool after his loan move to Blackburn Rovers. He dislocated his ankle in the game against Leeds United, an injury that would keep him out for almost half of the season after surgery.
On 6 February, 2022 he returned to action for club, where he scored his first goal for the club against Cardiff City, coming in the 58th minute. 10 days later he made his Champion League debut against Inter Milan, he played just 60 minutes before being substituted.
Elliott thrived at Liverpool as he play important role for the reds as there won domestic trophies and also the English Premier league title. Even under the management of Arne Slot, he became a regular starter and always had his influence whenever he was brought in.
He signed for Aston Villa in the summer of 2025, on an initial one season loan term with a buy option. A transfer would cost £35 million, including sell on and buy back clauses. His play time as Villa was limited because his buy option would be activated after making ten (10) appearance for the club.
Elliott was included in the England squad for 2025 UEFA European U21 Championship, he scored England’s first goal of the tournament, and delivered an outstanding performance against the Netherlands, scoring twice to helping the team reach the finals. England Won the finals against Germany, and Elliot was named the player of the tournament.
Elliott will return to Liverpool for the 2026/2027 season as his buy option was not triggered at Aston Villa. Regardless, the club sees him a player with so much prospects and potentials.
