Midfielder 43
The midfield genius, Stefan Bajcetic, joined Liverpool FC in December 2020 after a move from his boyhood club, Celta Vigo.
Bajcetic was born on October 22, 2004, in Vigo, Spain, into a family that is passionate about football. His father, Srđan Bajčetić, was a former footballer for the Serbian International side, so he helped shape Stefan’s understanding of the game at a very early age.
As a young boy growing up in Spain, a city renowned for its football culture, it helped develop his control of the ball and foresight as a midfielder.
Bajcetic started his football journey at the Celta Vigo academy before joining Liverpool’s youth system in December 2020 for a transfer fee of £224,000. This move was a significant step in his development, as in no time he impressed the coaching staff.
He signed a new contract with Liverpool in August 2022, which was a clear indication his future at the club was safe. A few days later ( August 27, 2022), he made his professional debut for the club against Bournemouth, coming in as a substitute in the 70th minute, replacing Jordan Henderson in a 9:0 victory.
He became Liverpool’s youngest player to feature in a UEFA Champions League game for the club, making his debut against Ajax on September 13, 2022, after coming in as a substitute in the 94th minute, replacing Thiago Alcântara.
On December 26, 2022 (Boxing Day), he scored his first senior goal for Liverpool after coming in as a substitute in the 79th minute in an away game against Aston Villa. Making him the third youngest player to score for Liverpool in the Premier League, and the second youngest Spanish Player to score in an EPL game.
Bajcetic signed a long term contract with Liverpool in January 2023; shortly after that, he was voted player of the month by fans after pulling out an amazing performance against Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Everton in the Premier League.
An adductor injury kept him out for the rest of the 2022/2023 season; his recovery was slow, but he returned to training in August 2023.
For more game time, he made a loan move to the Austrian Bundesliga side Red Bull Salzburg at the beginning of the 2024/2025 season. He made 19 appearances for the club before being recalled by Liverpool on January 31, 2023 and sent on a new loan spell to Las Palmas, where he made 14 appearances and scored one goal.
