Alexis Mac Allister the Argentine midfielder signed for Liverpool FC in the summer of 2023, a move from English club Brighton & Hove Albion.
Mac Allister was born on December 24, 1998, in Santa Rosa. Football runs deep in the Mac Allister family, his brothers are also footballers even his father Carlos Mac Allister enjoyed a successful professional career and represented Argentina at the international level.
Growing up in a football focused environment, he developed his developed his skill from a young age. Mac Allister started his career with Club Social y Deportivo Parque before joining Argentinos Juniors’ youth setup. He made his debut in a Primera B Nacional tournament against Central Córdoba, that ended in a 0:0 draw.
He became one of the most exciting young midfielder in Argentine football as his he contributed three (3) goals in 23 appearances during his first senior campaign, as his team achieved promotion to Primera División as champions.
In January 2019 Brighton & Hove Albion signed Mac Allister on a four and half year contract, but as part of the contract he was loaned back to Argentino Juniors for the rest of the season. June 2019 he made a six month loan move to Boca Junior, where he linked up with his brother Kelvin.
Alexis Mac Allister return to Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2020, and made his debut for the club on March 7th 2020 against Wolverhampton Wanderers. He scored his first goal for the club in a Carabao cup tournament against Portsmouth, which was a proof that the Argentine man has so much qualities.
He was recalled into the Argentina squad in 2022 after two and half years after his previous appearance. One of his biggest achievement for the national team was helping Argentina win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, under the management of Lionel Scaloni.
Liverpool FC secured his signature on June 2023 for a transfer fee of an initial £35 million and a total of £55 million including add ons. His debut game for the club came on the August 13 in match that ended in a draw against Chelsea.
He played along side Dominik Szoboszlai in the midfield, and provided his first assist with a long clipped ball for Darwin Nunez who smashed one into the net. His first goal for Liverpool came on the 3rd of December after he took a shot from the 30 yards to score against Fulham in a 4:3 victory. The was voted Liverpool’s goal of the 2023/2024 season.
He remained consistent in the 2024/2025 season under the management of Arne Slot. He was named Man of Match in the club’s first victory over Real Madrid in the last 15 years. He helped the club win the 2024/2025 English Premier league title, he was among the six (6) man nominees for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, and was also nominated in the 30 men shortlist for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
