Victor Muñoz, the Spanish winger, completed a move to Liverpool in the summer of 2026 in a transfer pundits described as a snatch from Newcastle United. He is Liverpool’s official first signing under the management of Andoni Iraola.

Muñoz was born on 13 July, 2003 in Barcelona. Born in a Spanish city as Barcelona, which is highly football-oriented, took a turn in influencing his journey. He first joined Sant Gabriel Academy before moving to La Massia at age 11.

The winger left the La Masia Academy in 2017 at 14 years old, bringing his time at the academy to just 3 years (2014-2017) before joining the local youth Academy CF Damm, which became the ground for his growth and technical development.

Real Madrid discovered him in June 2021, leading to a move to the side where he played in their youth system. He made his senior debut with a club in Madrid, RSC Internacional, in 2022, shortly after he featured in the UEFA Youth League. Before being promoted to the Primera Federación a year later.

Victor Muñoz had his breakout season in the 2024/2025 campaign, when he played his first senior game for Real Madrid on 11 May, 2025, coming on as a substitute for Vinicius Junior in an away game against Barcelona, which ended in a 4:3 defeat.

Xabi Alonso also featured him in the FIFA Club World Cup game. He was brought in as a substitute for Vinicius Junior in the 80th minute in the game against Al-Hilal, which ended in a 1:1 draw.

In the summer of 2025, he signed a 5-year contract with La Liga side Osasuna for a transfer fee of €5 million for 50% of his economic rights, with an additional €1 million due in performance-related bonuses.

Muñoz had 34 appearances for Osasuna and six (6) goal contributions across all competitions, playing from the left wing. On 25 September, 2025, he scored his first goal for the club against Elche in a 1:1 draw.

He made his international debut for Spain on 27 March 2026, scoring the third goal in a 3:0 friendly victory against Serbia at Estadio de la Cerámica. He was selected for Spain’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but ultimately did not feature in any of Spain’s matches, which went on to win the trophy.

Liverpool FC signed Muñoz on 18 June 2026 after beating Newcastle United, paying his release clause of €40 million (£34.5 million), on a six-year contract to keep him at the club until the summer of 2032. Making him Liverpool’s first signing in the 2026 summer, aside from Jérémy Jacquet, whose deal was completed months earlier.
