Kostas Tsimikas the Liverpool Left back defender has earned himself a reputation for his work rate, crossing ability, and fierce personality. The fans nicknamed him the “The Greek Scouser” which is as a result of his willingness to fight for every opportunity.
Tsimikas was born on May 12, 1996 in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he developed a passion for football at a young age. He joined Neopoli Thessalonikis where he began his youth career, and later made a move to Panserraikos, where his performance started attracting attention.
In December 2015 he made made his senior debut for Olympiacos, but as a young player he lacked playing time which resulted to his loan the Denmark club Esbjerg, and Willem II in the Netherlands, a move that helped him mature as a player.
Specifically at Willem II, he impressed the fans with his fierce attacking, defensive discipline, and his ability to influence and control games from wide areas.
On his return to Olympiacos, Tsimikas proved himself as one of the best left backs in Greek football. He played a key role in the 2019/2020 season, helping the club win the Greek Super League title.
Liverpool FC made a move for the Greek man in the summer of 2020 a transfer that cost £11.75 million as possible cover for Andy Roberson. His transfer to the club made his as he became the second Greek player to wear a Liverpool shirt.
September 2020 he made his debut for Liverpool in a Carabao cup game against Lincoln city. His first Champions league appearance for the club came in the game against FC Midtjylland, a game that ended in a 1:1 draw.
Injuries and illness slowed down his appearance for the red side, but he eventually recovered and adapted to the Jürgen Klopp intense playing pattern. His touches, crosses and recovery ability improved as a he quickly won the heart of the fans.
His breakthrough season came in the 2021/2022 campaign where he delivered several impressive performance whenever he was called upon to replace Robertson. Proving a point that he can perform at the English Premier league level.
He had his most iconic moment in the 2022 FA cup final against Chelsea. Coming in as a substitute, Tsimikas stepped up during the penalty kick and delivered goal that secured the trophy for Liverpool.
The Liverpool left full back made a loan move to AS Roma at the start of the 2025/2026 season after the arrival of Milos Kerkez to Liverpool.
Due to Roberson leaving the club at the end of the 2025/2026 season, Tsimikas has been recalled to the Merseyside as the replacement for the departing Scottish man.
