Defender 2
Lucy Parry is one of Liverpool’s groomed academy players who has the potential to make a name for herself. She is calm on the ball and explosive defensively, which was one of the reasons the Reds offered her a new contract at the end of the season.
Parry was born on 5 May 2004 in Liverpool, England. At a very young age, she developed a passion for football, which led to her joining Liverpool’s academy at just the age of seven (7). She became the youngest player to ever feature in the Women’s Championship after making her debut at just 16 years and 150 days.
She came on as a substitute in the 30th minute of the game against Coventry United, proving her worth and helping Liverpool Women secure a 5:0 victory at home.
Lucy Parry made 11 appearances for the Reds Women and was also part of the squad that won the 2021/2022 FA Women’s Championship title. Towards the end of the 2021/2022 season, she was offered her first professional contract by the club as they saw her fighting spirit when on the ball.
At the start of the 2022/2023 season, she was sent on a loan spell to the Scottish Women’s Premier League side Hibernian for the entire season. Her outstanding performances made her a regular starter for the side, as she became the first-choice right back.
During the loan spell, she successfully made 30 appearances for Hibernian and also scored her first senior goal, which was against Motherwell on 21 August 2022. Parry was named Hibernian Women’s player of the season at the end of the 2022/2023 season.
In February 2023, she was appointed captain of the England U19 team against Germany and Switzerland in the La Nucia International Tournament games.
Her return to Liverpool in the 2023/2024 season marked another impressive run for the Scouser, as he made 16 appearances across all competitions for the Reds, also helping them finish fourth (4th) in the WSL and qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL).
She was offered a new contract by the club, but the duration remained undisclosed to the public. Most exciting, after the departure of Emma Koivisto to Serie A, she had a shirt number switch, changing her No 32 to No 2, also making her a regular starter and the team’s first choice.
On 29 January 2025, Lucy Parry scored her first senior goal for Liverpool in a Women’s FA Cup fourth-round match against West Ham, a 5:0 victory that saw Liverpool women progress to the next round of the tournament.
