The Liverpool, and Brazilian goalkeeper Allison Becker is facing criticism by the Liverpool supporters over his recent comment of missing games for the Red side in preparation for the FIFA 2026 World Cup.
The goalkeeper sustained an hamstring injury against Galatasaray in the Champions league, which kept him out for nine (9) complete games in the Premier League including the quarter finals against Paris Saint German.
Regardless of his injury, he was listed among Brazil’s 26 man squad for the World Cup in the United States. In a recent interview ahead of Brazil’s opening game against Morocco, Allison reveals that he deliberately missed out of games for Liverpool as he awaits the World Cup.
Speaking to Brazil’s Newspaper Estadão he said: “I’m aware that I’m on the right track. Sometimes, on the field, things don’t happen as we would like. Perhaps, if we had won more, the perception would be different.
“What bothers me most is not having won. There’s always that feeling that I could have done something differently. I’m 100 percent and being out of games at Liverpool was to prepare me for the World Cup.
The revelation has sparked a mixed reaction among Liverpool Supporters, with some praising his honesty while other have questioned where his his priorities truly lies as he sat out of games while the club struggled for a Champions League qualification spot.
After his Injury, fans expected his run in the final month of the season, but the goalie did not make a comeback until the final game of the season against Brentford which game the Reds a narrow route to the 2026/2027 UEFA Champions League competition.
