Andy Burnham says he’d be “really concerned” if Manchester City lost its owners.
Additionally, he praises their investment in the club and the city, a sentiment echoed in Football Liverpool Manchester City.
Andy Burnham: I’d Be Really Concerned to Lose Manchester City Owners’
Andy Burnham has spoken about Football Liverpool Manchester City, and the situation surrounding Manchester City.
However, he would be really concerned if the club’s current owners left.
The former Mayor of Greater Manchester highlighted the major investment made by City Football Group since the Abu Dhabi-backed takeover in 2008.
“I’d be really concerned to lose them,” Burnham said.

He called the ownership group “such a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester”.
Moreover, he credited them with helping Football Liverpool Manchester City become a global force.
Burnham also pointed to investment beyond the pitch, including the Etihad Stadium campus and wider projects in the city.
“I do actually thank the City Football Group and the wider ownership for the money that they didn’t just put into the Etihad Stadium and the campus around it but also into the city.”
His comments come after the independent commission’s findings on the club’s financial-rule breaches. Burnham stressed he will not interfere or jump to conclusions.
“I can’t intervene more in the process. It’d be wrong to do that. It’d be wrong to jump to a conclusion before having really studied all the detail.”

The potential consequences go beyond football and affect the relationship between Manchester City, its ownership and the city of Manchester. For more on the Premier League’s financial rules, see the official Premier League regulations.
What happens next for Manchester City and its ownership remains to be seen.
