LiverpoolFC reportedly have a €70 million buy-back option for Jarell Quansah giving the Reds the opportunity to bring the England defender back to Anfield in the future.
According to Goal.com, Liverpool can exercise the buy-back clause until June 15, 2027. The agreement means the Reds have retained an important option over Quansah’s future despite his departure from the club.
Liverpool Could Bring Quansah Back
It would be surprising if Liverpool did not at least consider bringing Quansah back if he continues to develop.
The defender came through Liverpool’s academy and established himself as a first-team player, showing composure, physical strength and confidence in possession.
Liverpool have continued to build a promising group of centre-backs, and having the option to re-sign a player who already understands the club could become valuable in the future.
The €70m buy-back option gives Liverpool flexibility. If Quansah develops into one of England’s top defenders, the Reds can decide whether activating the clause represents good value.
Real Madrid Monitoring Quansah
Liverpool may also face competition if Quansah continues to impress.
Real Madrid scouts are reportedly keeping a close eye on the England international, according to the report.
The Spanish giants have regularly targeted young players with significant potential, and Quansah’s age, Premier League experience and international pedigree could make him an attractive option.
However, Liverpool’s buy-back clause could prove important if the club decide they want him back at Anfield.
Liverpool Have Until 2027
Liverpool do not need to make a decision immediately.
The buy-back option reportedly remains available until June 15, 2027, giving Quansah time to continue his development and Liverpool time to assess how their defensive situation evolves.
Liverpool’s current defensive options could also influence the decision, particularly with young defenders such as Jérémy Jacquet continuing to make an impression.
If Quansah develops into the defender many expected him to become, Liverpool could eventually decide that bringing him back is the right move.

For now, the important point is that Liverpool have protected their position with a €70m buy-back option.
With Real Madrid reportedly monitoring the defender, Jarell Quansah’s future could become an interesting storyline over the next few seasons.
What do you think, Reds? Should Liverpool activate the €70m buy-back clause and bring Jarell Quansah back to Anfield?
