Calvin Ramsay is a talented defender who joined Liverpool FC in the summer of 2022, after making a strategic move from the Scottish side Aberdeen.
Ramsay was born on July 31, 2003, in Aberdeen, Scotland. At an early age, his exceptional football talent was already on display. He joined the youth system at Aberdeen, which was one of the most respected clubs for young players development.
Ramsay progressed through the academy ranks before making his senior debut in the 2021/2022 season where he established himself as the club’s first choice right back despite his age. His attacking, crossing, and composure with the ball made his standout in the Scottish league.
He finished his career at Aberdeen with 39 senior appearance, scoring one (1) goal and providing nine (9) assists. A performance that earned him the Scottish Football Writer’s Association Young Player Award.
Liverpool FC signed the Scottish man in the summer of 2022 as part of the club’s long term plan for the right back position. The club saw him as a player capable of learning, and developing into a potential first team player.
Ramsay’s debut for Liverpool came in a UEFA Champions League game against Napoli, he came in as a substitute in the 87th minute, the game ended in a 2:0 victory for the red men. His first 90 mins came in a Carabao cup game against Derby County which ended in a penalty shootout in favour of Liverpool.
His first senior international call came in 2022, when he represented Scotland in a friendly match against Turkey. This marked another significant milestone in his career.
However, cases of injuries limited his opportunities to build momentum at Anfield. Liverpool arranged several loan spells to help him regain fitness and gain first team experience.
His loan moves were to Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, and Kilmarnock. These moves provided him with valuable experience in different competitive environment, and alongside more play time while he continued his recovery.
